EAX (tm) Unified (SHELL) — Description

• What it is: A legitimate installer/uninstaller wrapper (the “shell”) for Creative Labs’ EAX Unified components. EAX (Environmental Audio Extensions) is Creative’s audio effects technology used by many older PC games to add reverb and other environmental audio effects.
• Why “InstallShield Software Corporation” shows as the developer: The package is built with InstallShield, so Windows may list InstallShield as the publisher for the shell, even though the underlying technology (EAX) is from Creative.
• What it does: Deploys shared EAX runtime files and effect libraries used by compatible games and some Creative audio utilities. It doesn’t provide a standalone app; it’s infrastructure for EAX-enabled software.
